Bill Murray, In a Bar…

April 26, 2010

My contribution to this week’s exhibition – polystyrene lettering hand-cut using a hot wire, mounted on laser-printed wood grain texture. The text describes the frame from Groundhog Day that I used to create 100 A6 collages in the first term this year. The bar in question is in a bowling alley, hence the vernacular font and formica-aping wood grain. Think: 1980s small town America, last refurbished in the 1970s, in the 1950s revivalist style. Can’t you just taste that Miller Lite?
