Scratch My Back logotype
…And much tweaking of bezier curves later, we have our final logotype for the networking project. Early attempts to create something chubby and friendly involved white type reversed against a coloured offset path. I tried Caecilia Bold, American Typewriter Bold, Century Bold in Italic and regular. Feedback from the other members of the group suggested we take a more hand-rendered approach, so I tried repeating the same treatment with several script fonts, including Lauren Script (the final choice), Kavaler Kursive, and B.Ariston.
One idea was to create a logotype template for an online masthead banner, for which a different designer or illustrator could create a different version each month. With this in mind I tried to prevent the designs from becoming too complicated. Examples of how this might work are show below in an early incarnation, before we had chosen a name.
