Cornering the market: Black Metal Band Logos

February 7, 2010

I’ve known a few fans of black metal, and though generally very nice people, it wouldn’t be unfair to suggest that they tend to be a little obsessive. Christophe Szpajdel, a Belgian native now residing in that hub of black metal activity, Exeter, has been designing logos for black metal bands for the last 20 years, producing more than 7,000 over that period. This interview in Vice magazine give an insight into his creative, er, process.
While we’re on the subject, I found this other post by a black metal fan named Lady Omega, in which she lists her 13 favourite (13, of course!) illegible black metal logos. Here are examples belonging to Filii Nigrantium Infernalium, Forgotten Land, and the hilarious Waking The Cadaver.
