Daniel Eatock’s World Record Attempt

January 21, 2010

With the help of 18 volunteers, designer-cum-artist Daniel Eatock produced 100,000 postcards to create the world’s largest signed and numbered limited edition artwork. The postcards were distributed to galleries, art world professionals, and from galleries and bookshops around London.

When offered two exhibitions in Paris, artist Jérôme Saint-Loubert Bié chose not to show any of his own work, and invited 13 other artists and designers to produce 2 posters (one for each exhibition) for display instead. Eatock responded to Jérôme’s invitation by producing two posters which were composed by overprinting the designs by the 12 other artists. So, in effect, he mirrored Jérôme’s action of declining to produce anything, with a similar action himself. Jérôme claimed that of all the posters produced, these were his favourites.
